Kenneth Barnett Tankersley

Kenneth Barnett Tankersley is the Piqua Shawnee NAGPRA tribal representative and a
member of the Elders Council. He is a retired anthropology professor at the University of
Cincinnati, fellow of the graduate school, and former director of Native American Studies at
Northern Kentucky University. Tankersley served as a member of the Kentucky Native
American Heritage Commission and advisory board of the Kentucky Center for Native
American Art and Culture. He has published 175 articles and books on Native Americans and
worked on 18 documentary films, which have been featured on the National Geographic
Channel, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, the Animal Planet, the Weather
Channel, NOVA, BBC, and PBS.
